Addiction is a Family Disease
Substance dependence is chronic and progressive disease that, as it
advances, affects all aspects of the user's life. It affects their
physical, emotional, spiritual and interpersonal well-being. For the
chemically dependent person, their relationship with their drug of
choice may ultimately seem to become more important than their
relationships with friends and family. Substance dependence ruins lives.
Those close to the chemically dependent person oftentimes experience a parallel process.
Have you ever experienced high levels of stress related to your loved one and their use? Have you ever lost sleep worry about them? Might the
turmoil in your world contribute to your own health issues? Has your exposure to the addictive process affected your own spiritual well-being?
Do you feel totally overwhelmed or like you're on an emotional rollercoaster?
We all need to have hope for and faith for a better tomorrow.
EAGLEVILLE HOSPITAL AND RIVERSIDE CARE believe helping families better understand addiction, recovery and the healing process is a critical part of
the care experience. While your loved one is receiving services with us we'd like to encourage you to attend the educational and support sessions we are
providing for family members at two of our Philadelphia sites.
These services are provided as a FREE service to you. These sessions are designed to be informational and supportive. You may attend one or continue to attend
as long as you find value in it. Our focus is on helping you and your family understand and address your needs to better understanding those of your loved one.
Sessions are currently being held each Tuesday at our Center City location 1217 Sansom Street, 6th Floor and each Thursday in West Philadelphia at 5501
Chestnut Street (please use the side entrance on 55th Street). Sessions run from 6:00PM until 7:30PM. For more information or to register, please call (215) 925-2346.
We look forward to helping you with this process.
